What began as an exploration of the Christian faith from the perspective of young women evolved into an investigation into the connection between place and religious devotion.

By situating portraiture in settings within which the personal connection to faith is most heightened, The Secret Placeillustrates the sacred importance of these spaces in stimulating an intimate connection to a God.

This work showcases the concept of a refuge without boundaries created by an individual connection to a place, and a God 'under whose protection the faithful abide' (Psalm 91).
